Dag Hammarskjöld, Markings
In the point of rest at the center or our being. we encounter a world where all things are at rest in the same way, Then a tree becomes a mystery, a cloud a revelation, each man a cosmos of whose riches we can only catch glimpses. The life of simplicity is simple, but it opens to us a book in which we never get beyond the first syllable.

New Year's Resolutions

My mission is to expand and extend my communities, by working with what is ours, here and now, to have, to do, and to be. I have someone to love, some work to do, and something to look forward to. Regarding the last, I have Project A and Project B. So, let us begin:
  1. Accomplish something -- maybe some things -- weekly toward realizing Project A.
  2. Accomplish something -- maybe some things -- weekly toward realizing Project B.
  3. Prepare for Project C.
  4. Write everyday.
  5. Read books. Everyday.
  6. Reconcile with Charlie. You don't have any brothers but he comes close. Seven years is too long. No forgiveness and no forgetting. Just reconcile. Instigate contact and get a conversation going.
  7. Always take hearing aids to all meetings. You paid for them. Use them.
  8. Simplify: jettison and discard excess.
  9. Lose weight: Chart my progress. Publish chart.
  10. Walk Doberwoman every day.
  11. Stop eating Haagendazs.
  12. Stop eating butter on toast.
  13. Floss and brush immediately after dinner. (That prevents late-night raids on the kitchen!)
  14. Drink water. Ice water.
That's a start.
